Welcome

Helloooo :)

Thankyou for coming to my website, it's nice to meet you. ;)

I'm Holly Kirby, a singer-songwriter from the Isle of Wight, England. I enjoy writing my own songs and producing my own music videos. I've put a lot of them on my own channel on YouTube - and they now total over one million views, and I have approaching ten thousand subscribers! - which is pretty cool. :) One of my earliest videos led to a live appearance on a popular British TV show a few years ago, performing "Orinoco Flow" as Enya - there's a bit more about this on the biography page. - Some people still remember me from that! :)

My music is mainly celtic/folky/pop but it depends on which mood I'm in at the time really. I play the guitar, piano, low whistle, bass, clarinet, ukulele and am learning the Appalachian Dulcimer. :) People who have influenced my music include Enya, Loreena McKennitt, Joni Mitchell, Sandy Denny, Amy MacDonald, Texas/Sharleen Spiteri, Dido. According to one fan on YouTube, I sound like "...a mix of Lily Allen, Dido, Enya and Rachel Luttrell. I think we can throw in a bit of Lisa Kelly while we're at it." Cool, huh? :D

I love writing my own songs, so I do it as often as I can. Last year I won a UK video competition, the prize of which was to play live with Scottish singer-songwriter Amy MacDonald, which was brilliant. I've now started a musical gap year (before doing a Creative Music Technology course at Surrey University, starting September 2010) during which I intend to concentrate on developing my music further, and will be available for lots more live music events in the local region (Isle of Wight and Southern England). I've played lots of gigs, festivals and private functions already, including the Isle of Wight Festival (acoustic and Kashmir stages) and the Wickham Festival (main stage), and enjoyed them immensely, and I will be appearing at Bestival. You can see videos of some of  these events on my news page. If you would like me to play at your live entertainment event, please contact me here. :)

I really hope that you like my website. Please feel free to have a look around, view my videos, listen to my songs, have a look at my photos, and join my mailing list! :) If you would like to help me, discuss music with me, be a fan, suggest or vote on a song to cover, and get free advance previews of new songs etc., please join my Members Forum. You might also want to read my blog, check out my art and poetry, find out how I write songs, see some Isle of Wight Music videos, or read about Lady my guitar, and don't forget to leave me a message in my guestbook before you go!

Thankyou again. :)

Love Hollyxxxxx
