Hello everyone! :)
I hope you had a fab Christmas.
In case you missed it over on Facebook, I uploaded a little Christmas song on Christmas Eve - my version of Silent Night - auf Deutsch! (‘Stille Nacht’). Like I said over there, my German pronunciation is a bit rusty, so please forgive any strange sounding words if you’re a German-speaker.
Here’s a link to the video: Stille Nacht - Holly Kirby
So Christmas is over for another year and 2017 is fast approaching. I rather like the time in between Christmas and New Year - the mad rush of Christmas is over and the New Year is almost upon us, like a blank canvas waiting to be doodled on, splashed with paint and adorned with photos of exciting new adventures!
For me, the new year is particularly exciting for a number of reasons (more details to follow!), but one of them is the decision to start ‘making a go of things’ with my music and the incredible wave of support that I recently received when checking to see if anyone was still there! - It was totally unexpected. As I’d been away for such a long time I thought I’d be talking to myself, but it turns out that there are a few lovely listeners still out there and interested in listening to what happens next.
A few of you commented that I should ‘kickstart’ the recording process by setting up a crowdfunding project or looking into Patreon. I looked into a few different sites including Indiegogo, Kickstarter and Pledge Music, but am currently opting for Patreon.
It’s a fab concept and one that seems to make sense in the new music industry, a place where fans and artists can now connect directly - thanks to social media!
Patreon allows fans to support their chosen artists’ careers by pledging a certain amount per month. After pledging, they receive different levels of benefits along the way depending on how much they’ve pledged - starting at $3 per month for access to everything that the artist posts on Patreon - from videos and songs to album art and behind the scenes video footage.
The artist sets goals based on the income they receive per month which you can view on their Patreon page. I've just set my first goal and when I reach it I’ll be able to afford to get into the studio and record my first, brand new Celtic song.
Here’s a link to the page in case you’re interested in finding out how you can become a Holly Berry (or maybe even a Holly Bush!). ;) All shall be revealed…
Anyway - here’s to a lovely New Year - I hope you and your families have the best one yet, and thank you again for your continued support. :)
